What to have ready
You will get a more useful answer in the first conversation if you have these to hand.
If something is missing, tell us anyway. Missing documents are a normal starting point and we can often tell you how to obtain them.
- A short account of what happened, in date order. A few lines is enough.
- Any case, police or complaint reference number you have been given.
- The documents at the centre of it. The contract, tenancy agreement, offer letter, cheque, invoice, notice or judgment.
- Anything with a deadline on it. A hearing date, a notice period, a date by which you have been told to respond or pay.
- Messages and emails with the other side, including WhatsApp.
- Your Emirates ID or passport copy, and the trade licence if the matter involves a company.
What happens after you contact us
We read what you send and come back to you to arrange a first conversation. In that conversation we will ask questions, tell you whether there is a matter to pursue or defend, and explain the realistic options and what each one costs.
If it turns out you do not need a lawyer, we will say so. If the matter belongs somewhere else, for example a labour complaint at MOHRE or a rental case at the Rental Dispute Centre, we will point you there.
If your matter is urgent
Call rather than email if someone has been detained, a travel ban has appeared, a hearing is imminent, or you have been told to sign something today. Say in your first sentence that it is urgent and give the date involved.
