Everything we publish here is general information about the law in the United Arab Emirates. It is written to help you understand how something works before you decide what to do about it.

It is not legal advice. It is not advice about your situation. Your own facts, your documents and your dates change the answer. Two problems that sound the same can end very differently, and a page written for everybody is not written for you.

Reading this site does not make us your lawyers

A lawyer and client relationship begins only when we have agreed to act for you and that engagement has been signed.

Reading a page here does not create one. Sending us an enquiry does not create one. Neither does a first phone call or an exchange of emails, however detailed it is. Until there is a signed engagement, we are not acting for you and you should not proceed as though we are.

Please do not send us confidential documents before we have confirmed that we can take the matter on. We may already act for someone on the other side, and we have to check that first.

The law changes

UAE law is amended often, and procedure at the courts and at government departments changes as well, sometimes without any published notice.

A page that was accurate when it was written may not describe the position today. We update these pages when we can, but do not assume that what you are reading is current on the day you read it. Where a page is marked as needing confirmation, treat it that way.

We do not promise any outcome

Nothing on this site is a promise, a guarantee or a prediction about the result of any case, claim, complaint or application. No lawyer can promise a result, and the professional rules that apply to licensed advocates in the UAE do not permit us to suggest one. Where a page describes what we do, it describes the work, not the outcome.

Calculators and checklists

Any calculator, checklist or template on this site is a guide. A figure produced by a tool is an estimate based on what you typed in, not a statement of what you are owed or what you owe.

Get advice on your own facts before you act

If something here matters to a decision you are about to make, get advice on your own facts first. That is true whether you come to us or go elsewhere. Some deadlines in UAE law are short, and acting on general information instead of advice is a common way to miss one.
